Ruth Blalock Curry, age 94, of Auburn, died December 29, 2014. She was
preceded in death by her husband, Jack Curry. Surviving are her
daughter, Cheryl Curry of Raleigh, NC; son, Jack Curry and his wife
Betty Joe of Fayetteville, Cecil Curry and his wife, Paulette of
Conyers, six grandchildren; several great grandchildren and great great
grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held 2 o’clock, Friday,
January 2, in the chapel of Henry Funeral Home, with Dr. Jim Martin
officiating. Interment will follow at East View Cemetery, Conyers. The
family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

86, passed away Sunday, July 15, 2012 at the Landmark Hospital in
Athens.
Born in Jackson County, she was the daughter of the late Grover and
Thelma Waters Blalock and was the widow of Ernest H. Gunter after having
been married for some 61 years. She was also preceded in death by a
daughter, Vicky Brown.
Among the many titles and duties, her greatest pursuit was in serving
her Lord and Saviour. She was loved and cherished by all who knew her.
Her loss will be carried from now until we are reunited once more in
that place prepared for all that love the Father, Son and Holy
Spirit-eternal in the Heavens.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law,
Todd and Tara Gunter,
Commerce; a sister,
Ruth Curry, Auburn; grandchild,
Darina Boleman,
Hartwell; two great-grandchildren,
Lanae Boleman and
Gevin Boleman; and
two step-grandchildren,
Anthony Drake and
Valerie Drake.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, July 18, in the
chapel of Ivie Funeral Home with Mr. Scott Hamilton and Mr. Leslie
Pulley officiating. Interment will follow in Jackson Memorial Gardens.

86, of Commerce who passed away on Sunday at the Landmark Hospital in
Athens. Born in Jackson County, she was the daughter of the late Grover
and Thelma Waters Blalock and was the widow of Ernest H. Gunter after

Survivors include a son and
daughter-in-law, Todd and Tara Gunter of Commerce, a sister, Ruth Curry

Vicky June Gunter was the wife of Clarence Nelson Brown.
Vicky June Gunter Brown, 60, of Commerce, died Wednesday, March 5, at Athens Regional Medical Center in Athens.
Born
in Jackson County, she was the daughter of Mildred Blalock Gunter and
the late Ernest Gunter and was retired from the University of Georgia,
having served as office manager of the Georgia Museum of Art.
Survivors
in addition to her mother, include her husband, Nelson Brown, Commerce;
a daughter and son-in-law, Darina Brown and William R. Boleman,
Hartwell; brother and sister-in-law, Todd and Tara Gunter, Commerce;
grandchildren, Lanae Boleman and Gevin Boleman; nephew, Anthony Drake;
and niece, Valerie Drake.
Funeral services were held Saturday,
March 8, in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home with the Rev. Terry Smith,
Charles Vaughn and Robert Flippo officiating. Burial was in Jackson
Memorial Park.

BALDWIN - J.D. Ward, 77, died Sunday, December 31, 2000, at his residence following an extended illness.
Mr. Ward was born February 5, 1923, in Banks County. He was a son of the late Lemuel and Nettie Payne Ward.
Mr.
Ward was a U.S. Army World War II veteran and was a member of Grant
Reeves Post #7720, Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was also a member of
Nails Creek Baptist Church, Homer, and the AARP. Mr. Ward was formerly
employed with Carwood Manufacturing Company and was retired from Grady
Garment Company.
He was preceded in death by his first wife,
Rachel Blalock Ward, and a son,
Steven Ward.
Funeral
services were held Tuesday, January 2, 2001, at Nails Creek Baptist
Church with the Revs. Roy Rogers and Terry Rice officiating. Burial was
in the church cemetery with the Rev. Gene Todd officiating at graveside.

Ward is survived by his wife, Pat Payne Ward, Baldwin; three daughters,

of Commerce for Mrs. Winnie Rachel Ward, 46, of Baldwin.
The Rev. Ray C. Black officiated and interment was in the Nail's Creek Cemetery.
Mrs.
Ward, a native of Jackson County, died Saturday at the BJC Hospital
following a long illness. She was a member of the Nail's Creek Baptist
Church.

CAROL W. ELROD, age 64, of Mount Airy, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, February 4, 2012, at Heritage Healthcare of Toccoa.
Mrs. Elrod was born on June 26, 1947, in Thomasville, North Carolina,
to the late Jerry David and Rachel Blalock Ward. She was also preceded
in death by her brother, Steven Ward. Mrs. Elrod graduated from Brenau
University in Gainesville, Georgia with a Bachelors Degree in Nursing.
She was a retired registered nurse and Assistant Director of Nursing at
Stephens County Hospital with twenty-two and a half years of service.
Mrs. Elrod was also employed with the Northeast Georgia Medical Center
and the Habersham County Medical Center where she was the Director of
Nursing. She was a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Grant
Reeves VFW Post #7720. Mrs. Elrod was also a member of the Georgia
Nurses Association and the Camp Creek Baptist Church.
Survivors include her loving husband of 44 years, William H. “Bill”
Elrod, Jr., Mount Airy, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Jason W. and
Sherrice Elrod, Ft. Wayne, IN; son and his fiancée, William Clinton
“Clint” Elrod and Minda Chapman, Alto, GA; sisters and brothers-in-law,
Cathy and Jimmy Rogers, Gainesville, GA and DeAnn and Tommy Downer,
Cornelia, GA; brother, David Ward, Mount Airy, GA; brothers and
sisters-in-law, Kirby and Genevieve Ward, Calhoun, GA and Milton and
Susan Ward, Knoxville, TN; and grandchildren, Cassandra Elrod, Reece
Elrod, Jacob Elrod, and Holley Chapman.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 7,
2012, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, Georgia, with
Dr. Bill Barrs and Dr. Kenneth Franklin officiating.
